| CHRYSALIS
emphasises the benefits of good equalities practice and of valuing
diversity.
We recognise
that the issues of equality and diversity may evoke very strong
feelings. We also recognise that our participants are intelligent
individuals committed to doing their best. They are professionals
and workers with a vast array of experience, skills and talents
who are capable of examining issues, employing learning tools and
coming to their own conclusions.
CHRYSALIS
aims to:
create a "safe" environment in which participants can
share what they really think
challenge
each other and the trainers where necessary
have their
own views challenged without fear of attack or breaching confidentiality
encourage
learning arising from the group itself, rather than solely from
the trainer to the group
demonstrate
acceptance of the fact that there are a range of views about equality
establish
policies and practices to combat intuitional oppression
In
CHRYSALIS we believe our best learning occurs when we feel as well
as think.
Chrysalis
courses are designed to have an experiential element that enables
people to have a kinesthetic experience of what it is like to be
a member of an invisible minority. Once participants have begun
to understand one thread of diversity they are able to make the
links with other groups and explore the similarities and difference
that exist in the experience of oppression.
CHRYSALIS
trainers are highly experienced and motivated people who care deeply
about equality.
